where I began
I grew up in Dublin, Ireland, the natural habitat of many literary masters and started writing stories, poetry, songs and plays at an early age. My blood flows with the storytelling, music and humour of my Irish kin.
With a love of the different and alternative, along with the inner strength required to survive the politics, social economics and weather of 1980s Ireland, I’ve always possessed determination to be a voice for the voiceless and marginalised.
Moving to Australia at eleven commenced a prolonged yearning for family, friends and the country we left behind. But over the years, my love of the Australian landscape tempered my longing for home. Australia’s unique animals, majestic forests, and vast seascapes cast their ancient spells on me. In my 30s, I embarked on over a decade of paid and voluntary wildlife work.

Being an animal lover with a science and wildlife background, I’ve been lucky enough to work at Melbourne Zoo, Wildlife Victoria, the Australian Wildlife Protection Council and as a wildlife rescuer and carer. With this experience, I have much to offer as a wildlife writer with insight into the wildlife sector, including animal husbandry, ecology, government legislation and regulation and the cultural and political ideology surrounding Australian wildlife.

WHERE I’M GOING
As well as being a voice for animals and the environment, I want to write about social justice and mental health. As a survivor of childhood abuse and sexual assault as an adult, I can offer valuable insight into these difficult areas of discourse. I aspire to inspire change through educational and informative articles that give survivors a courageous, compassionate and empathetic voice.
I’m a flexible freelancer whose work is a harmony of passion and professionalism. I love to explore different perspectives and start conversations. With my professional experience, tech know-how and intuitive nature, I produce well-researched, engaging copy and web content.
As a singer-songwriter, I love many genres of music and have skills in music composition and audio recording. I also love art, photography, film and television, pop culture, current affairs and politics.
